There are many, many people who have stable chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, asthma etc.

These people are on long term medication so are able to order repeat prescriptions when they need medication every 1-2 months. They will get reviewed though at least once a year.

People can request repeat perscriptions by phone, post, in person, fax or even e-mail depending on their GP's.

Each GP has a list size of 2000 patients. Seventy percent of these patients will see their GP at least once in twelve months.

Sometimes they issue scripts without seeing the patient because of the demands on their time. If you don't like that, move to Australia - they only have 800 patients per GP there. You can pop down to see the Aussie GP for your repeat prescription, but it will cost you $50 for the privilege

If you are in the uk didn't think they were allowed to do that for people who have a monthly prescription you have to tick the boxes on the form and hand it in to be picked up in 48hrs
