The last 2 times I've tried to trim the bushes, I've been stung by wasps. Once was midday, the other time was evening, before sunset. Any "good" time or other suggestions. I know it's wasps. I saw them.

Are you sure they're wasps and not yellow jackets? Wasps are usually not very aggressive but we are coming into the part of the years when yellow jackets are getting nasty and aggressive. Is there a nest inside the bushes. If there is it's probably yellow jackets. It's almost like they know they're going to die in another month so they have to sting things while they still can.

If you can spot the nest you can get spray cans that shoot 20 feet. Just go out some cool evening. Shine a lantern on the nest. Put the lantern about 10 feet from where your position will be and then fire away. You can shoot the entire can on the nest. If any do escape they are photosensitive so they will go to the lantern and not you. Within 15 or 20 minutes they should all be dead.

If there isn't a nest that you can see they may be wasps--and they're just there to sting you, do 3 things. Wear protection--long sleves, gloves with tight wrists that can go over the end of your sleves, long pants and socks and shoes. But rubberbands around the bottom of your pants. 2nd, don't wear anything that has a sweet odor because they are in the sugar collection phase of their lives. And finally do not make quick movements. All bees have fairly poor eyesight when it come to forming images but they have excellent eyesight to detect movement. If there are a few buzzing around and you swat at them or make other quick movements they'll probably come after you. Slow and easy.

I know that just spraying the spray and not knocking down the nest only works for a few minutes and the yellow jackets are back again with even more on the nest. You just have to be vigilant all the time in looking for the nests.....spray them 20 feet away....wait a minute, knock the sucker of a nest down and later burn it.....

I dont like bees but I'm not deathly afraid of them so I don't think I would run into traffic or anything. Probably just shoo it away.
