Honestly I can't really say which console is better. The reason being is thath both consoles are VERY different, as well as the direction they are going to appeal to the masses.
Nintendo is now trying to appeal to everyone (casual gamers and even people who have never played in their lives) to play with their games, alot like Nintendo DS's "Touch Generation," Movement. Sony doesn't necessarly need to do that, since their games were somewhat like in the previous generations.
When it comes to similarities in terms of hardware, they both have motion sensing capabilties and will have multiplayer online capabilities. PS3 is only six degrees, while Wii's controller is much more advanced then that (360d egrees?). Thats where the similarites end though.
While Nintendo Wii has the least powerful hardware (when compared to PS3 and X-box360) it is also the cheapest (costs $250) Some compare the Wii's hardware to last generations (like a souped up X-box), atlthough it does boast innovative features. I'm sure the motion sensing will soon revolutionize the gaming market in a matter of months. Nintendo though are learning from their last generation mistake, and are offering free online service (via friend code) for certain games, dvd compability (although you have to pay extra for the add on) and it also offering backwards compatiblity with gamecube games. They also have much more 3rd party support when compared to Gamecube.Another thing that Wii is getting much hype is their "virtual console" Basically for a small fee you'll be able to download and play previous games by Nintendo earlier consoles such as N64, SNES, NES, and even one of Segas Consoles and turbo grafix. And don't forget that Nintendo Wii has the biggest launch line up to date!!! Over 20 games will be out on launch date (Nov 19), so you'll have alot of variety to choose from! Especially 2 best selling games will be out as well, Metroid Prime 3 and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Now PS3 is the powerhouse console of the 7th generation.
Overall PS3 has higher graphical and memory capabilties then both 360 and Wii. Although 360 is very close to PS3 in terms of hardware, and you can almost say their is not that much difference when it comes to graphics between those 2.
Although the main disadvantage for ps3 is the price that so many people have been complaining about. The price is mostly do do with their blueray feature (although considered cheap since blue ray alone is worth around 1k) and their superior hardware. Blueray is supposedly the next generation of "DVD's". They have much more space for information then standard cds/dvds. PS3 will support Blueray discs and will support HDTV t.vs aswell. Like the X-box There's 2 versions you can buy. The core and the premium. The core is $500 dollars, has 20 gigs memory and many other features. Premium is $600 dollars but boasts 60gb and a whole lot more features! If your going to get a ps3, get the 600 dollar version! 40 more giga bites and a whole lot more is DEFINETLY worth 100 dollars more!
Everyone has their own opinion of what console appeals to them more. The 2 consoles are very different. Nintendo boasts gameplay and innovation, while ps3 appeals to people that are more interested in more horsepower. Also the games they offer are different as well. Supposedly Nintendo has a "kiddy" image, but in contrast to that, a high number of their games that are going to be released are teen and up. Red Steel, TP, MP3, SSBB and many others. It all depends on what style of games you like more as well. If you really ike Mario, Zelda/link, Samus and etc then you will like nintendo more. If you like Kingdom of hearts, Final Fantasy series and etc then you will like ps3. I say they are both equally good, and have the same number of good and bad points. They just have very different styles!
hope this helps!

well, that depends if you like really good graphic ok games and sony
a ps3. If you like nintendo and you want to be able to do more with gaming than just press buttons a wii. Games are fun my freind chris played them at e3 and said its awsome and your hand will not get tierd because it is built so you can hold it in out half way. The games have far graphics and are good enough. Plus classic games. Ps3 is also good though but not for the money. If money is not a problem get both.

Hard to say since neither are in the market and both are under constant change.
