I have deleted files in the recycle bin, done a disk cleanup, defrag it and have remove a few installed programs but didn't get the free space i was expecting with the uninstalling i have done. Any suggestions to get rid of those old unwanted files left in my laptop.
Is there a safe free software that i can download that's comptible with window xp? I'm not a computer expert, so an simple instruction will be much appreciated. Thanks

CleanUp http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/
It deletes all the temp files on the entire system. Leave it on the default settings. If you go more aggressive, you will get things you care about. It can get a lot sometimes, but you already did some of the things it does for you.

If you have a buch of users set up that you don't need, delete them and thier profiles. Extra profiles take a lot of space.

Look through your My Documents and see if there is stuff that you don't need. Keep in mind pictures and other multimedia files can be pretty big. If you really need the space move them somwhere or burn them to CD. If you really care about them make two copies and put them in different locations.
