Go for a bigger bike, you will outgrow the GS500 soon. Get something in the 750 range. The SV650 is a nice bike.

Your typical rider tends to trade bikes every three years anyway. It's fast enough to keep up with highway traffic and likely to be a lot of fun on winding roads. You're not likely to get bored with it unless you like to do wheelies and the like - and if that is the case, you're going to want to get in a lot of practice on something forgiving and predictable before you try those shenanigans with something with dangerous amounts of power.

Don't do it.

Get a SV650. Not much more money, much more bike.

it's only worth it if you feel it's a fair price.

Suzuki makes decent bikes. What sort of "trouble" is there? Please elaborate?
