I use it primarily for my studies at University (light, quiet, long lasting battery, wireless card), but also as a desktop replacement. It has to work both in Europe (Germany) and the USA (keyboard? connections?), because I constantly travel back and forth.
my budget is up to $1300.
Would it be better to buy it in the US or in Germany?
Which one would you recommend/what do I need to look for?
What about the new microsoft Vista?

THANK YOU!!!

Apple MacBook. I have a PowerBook (older version, pre-intel chip, but otherwise approximately the same), that I use to take notes on during lectures, and in place of a desktop. And I take it everywhere with me. I mean, seriously, the thing's even been to Mongolia. So I assure you it works in foreign countries. And if you want to be all fancy, you can even buy a plug adaptor that sticks right into the white box on the end of the cord and matches and everything (or you can just use a boring grey plug adapter like I do). Macs get virtually no viruses, they never crash, they're significantly faster, they're vastly better for graphics work, and they look cool. And on new Macs you can run Windows as well if you want so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. Plus they have great student discounts, and even give you a free iPod with your computer.

buy a dell. you can get a nice laptop for way less than 1300.00. Since I dont' know what your going to use it for, I can't recommend a model. Microsoft Vista isn't scheduled for release until the later part of the year.
