The latest press release from the network reports the show on Sept 4 as the finale to the first season, so it would seem that a second season is at least planned. There should be word in a few months if the series has resumed shooting and when the planned premiere will be.

No idea, to my knowledge, it has not been re-newed. It was not the hit they thought it would be, of course, if they would have gone for some technical accuracy it may have helped.
