If you're talking about the planet itself, in a few billion years the sun will run low on fuel, it'll expand into a red giant and swallow up the Earth.
If you're talking about how the human race will die out on planet Earth, my favourite idea at the moment is an alien race arrives and wipes us out to stop us broadcasting reruns of The Cosby Show.

If it is the anthromorphic world you are talking it may come to an end in of the ways listed by the worthy answers who preceded me and I do not want to repeat the Dooms Day message again. If,however, you mean the physical world it will go on and on and on.The world has undergone cataclysmic changes since it colled down from its molten state in which it was born. And at every stage it has adjusted to the environment and shaped itself accordingly to go on. There were dinausars, the mammoths, the sabe-tooth tigers and even the arboreal monkeys. Some have been wiped clean from the surface but others have come to take up positions. Leave alone the exotic aliens travelling in their flying saucers we ourselves have reached the moon and are at the doors of other planets and stars.Too much is made of te global warming which is an inevitable natural process only slightly pushed by our pollution but it does not necessarily spell doom. Do you know that initially the earth was full of carbon-di-oxide in which no life can survive. The world invented the flora, the flora created oxygen and the breathing world came about. Even if we do not succeed in reaching the starts before the environmental disaster strikes it also does not mean THE END. Perhaps a life form different from us would subsequently would involve and rule the world. The process of evolution is life-oriented and even if it could not be said to be guided it has an inherent bent towards going up and up and up.Those who would subsequently rule the earth may not be like us at all but still they will be our descendants. So take heart.
