The saddest thing about AirAmerica is that they tried to make themselves a viable alternative to the Boortz, Rush, Hannity trinity. If you look at the numbers alone, Rush has the largest audience of the format. Hannity is no slouch either. Boortz is also very influential and he continues to get new stations all the time. Actually where he competes directly with Rush, he beats him in ratings. Air America started out wrong to begin with. They put on outspoken actors (Janine Garofolo) and a lunatic (personal opinion...) Al Franken. They spent most of their time during their shows just bitching and complaining. No one wants to listen for three hours to someone who won't stop complaining.
The liberal media is trying to push a bill through congress (the fairness doctrine) that would require radio stations that broadcast Limbaugh and the like to provide equal time to the left leaning shows. That in and of itself is bad enough but I have heard that Air America has actually tried to file suit against stations that have cancelled the liberal programming.

UPDATE: Air America responds.
If Air America had filed for bankruptcy every time someone rumored it to be doing so, we would have ceased to exist long ago; it may be frustrating to some that this hasn’t happened.
No decision has been taken to make any filing of any kind, we are not sure of the source of these rumors and frankly can not respond to every rumor in the marketplace.

Again, I have no doubts the new AAR ceo may make some changes to the station. Rashy Limpballs has been on the air for 19 years now. He started out fledgling in his first few years too.
They certainly differ though! Air America hosts don't suck down Oxycontin, nor do they spew racist remarks.
Even if Air America rearranges their program, according to Thom Hartmann (on now) the majority of programs are not going anywhere.

That's funny, I just logged onto the site and guess what? It's still on the air, thankfully. You just wasted a good April Fool's Day prank, you know that don't you? If it was bankrupt like you claim that it is, then it would've been in the news.
Interested, why would they do what you claim that they do when you know full well that the conservatives have been pulling that stunt anyhow. Get over yourself.

I'm not. From what I've heard, they have been having financial troubles from the start: George Sorros having to put money into the stations, they weren't getting the commercial support, they were losing listeners and affiliates all over the country. I knew it was just a matter of time before it shut down completely.

It was awful. Franken was dull and the format left you sapped instead of energized like right wing hate radio. On long trips, I listen to the right wing rants, because it keeps me awake and makes my blood boil.
Just listen to Rush or Hannity...when they come back from commerical, there always loud, energetic music. They get you pumped up and then get your hate on.
Franken could put insomniacs to sleep...

i am only surprised that it has lasted this long.
they were never able to generate ad dollars because no one wanted to listen to their socialistic, tax-raising drivel.
al franken can be funny. but when he gets into babbling about politics, i make sure i have made a pit stop first as i cannot control my laughter.
