Whenever I do it it's too far away from the lash line, or else I just mess it up completely some other way!

I have worn eyeliner since I started wearing make up. It’s perfect to make an eye up as it widens the eye and shows off the colour of the eye.

I used to do mine with my eyes gently shut and found that the line would always end up thicker than I liked. I believe it must be something to do with the relation of the eyelashes to the lid. On some people it’s different to others, as I found that on some of my friends if they closed their eyes I could do a lovely thin line on them (and on other friends I couldn’t).

The best thing I found was to keep my eyes open and get very close to the mirror. This seems to allow for less shake in the hand as you can see very clearly what you are doing and can concentrate better.

Don’t put too much on the brush to start with otherwise all the tiny shakes will show.

Start in the middle of the eye and work to the outside corner. Without reapplying to the brush start in the inner corner of the eye and work out to the meet the previous line in the middle. It’s best not to reapply to the brush as the line from the middle out looks nicer if slightly thicker than the line from the inner corner to the middle. Doing this gives the eye a doe like appearance which is very elegant (hence my nick-name bambi.)

You might want to try a more solid brush (Rimmel do a great one.) This ought to make it easier to work with as it’s more like a pencil but still gives the effect of a brush

Practice makes perfect so don’t worry about messing up a few times, you’ll get it in the end and it is worth the effort

I had the same problem... I think you should go to Mac store. Buy the eye shadow in black and the brush total of $31 but its worth it. Eyeliner is not in style as much as the new mac brush with the eye shadow. And if you want the can even help you to put it on ( teach you) OR insated of the brush and eyeliner get the crayon one its the easyest and it looks likke eyeliner but doent get messy. But if u do buy, purchase a brand name last longer and better. I hope this helps!

A good magnifying mirror. Hold eye you want to line closed with one hand along your eyelashes and hold eye pen right on the edge of the lashes ....draw from nose side of your eye outwards along the lash line. Might take you a couple of goes and a little eye make up remover but then you will get it.

Close your eye but dont squeze it shut, just genlty close it. When making your strokes use little dashes instead of a straight line. It will help make a straighter line. Also get as close to the lash line as u possible can. If you make a mistake take a Qtip a get it wet with spit (sounds gross but works) and wipe away your mess up!

With a very steady hand! You could either try putting a row of dots as near to the base of your lashes as possible then carefully join the dots up. Alternatively, if you want to do it all in one go don't be too tentative - that's when your hand starts to shake and you end up with a cardiograph on your eyelid!

Rest the tip of the eyeliner brush on your eyelashes, and put a little more pressure on it when you want the line to be thicker.

You should bring the car to a full stop and hang up the phone before putting on eyeliner.

Apparently, one way of putting liquid liner on is to look down into a mirror - you get a better result this way!

It's all down to keeping your eyelid still and having a steady hand. If you have neither, I would get someone else to do it for you.
I can't do it either, had to give up in the end!

don't use liquid use a pencil one - you need a really steady hand for liquid one and if you bodge it you have to take all the make up on that eye off and start again - way to much hassle.
