Scavenger? The normal diet of gulls is small fish, shellfish, crabs and other small shore line life forms with some carrion. But the gulls are opportunistic.
Humans by either leaving their own "garbage" out or by directly feeding gulls "human food" have modified the gulls diet. They have learned to eat just about anything that a human throws at them.
As for the hot sauce, the tongue of the gulls may not have noticed the spice. It would not normally be a part of their diet.
I always found it odd that people can spend hours "training" the gulls to be pests and then complain how "low" they are.

Birds lack the taste buds that taste hot and spicy stuff, so you just wasted some good hot wings and sauce.
You can actually use hot pepper flakes in your bird feeder to keep the squirrels from eating all your bird food, because the squirrels CAN taste hot and spicy. It will make them stay away.

Seagulls will eat almost anything.
This is the seagull's downfall, because the seagull will eat so much that it can kill itself.
However, those seagulls you fed those hotwings to may feel the burn in a few days.

ROFLMAO... Is it wrong to feed a bird chicken?? I don't think it would be too hot for them though, because I don't think birds have tastebuds. Just don't feed them anything that will give them gas, because birds cannot burp or fart, so excess gas pressure can cause them to explode... And if you thought bird poop was messy... LOL.

Probably not - they're scavengers by nature; but just because they eat it, doesn't mean you should tempt them with things...it's wrong, you know. ;P Although I suppose it'd be freaking hilarious to see them smoking at the beak!!!
