I will be visiting a very good friend who recently moved to Johnson City, Tennessee and would like to know of any interesting or fun things to do there... he is 25, I am 34 and we will also have my 7 year old daughter with us. Thanks for suggestions...

Visit local dams. This area has 5 TVA dams.
Go to Roan Mountain.
Eat at 'The Firehouse' on Walnut St. GREAT BBQ!!!
JC has a hands on museum for your daughter.
Visit Bristol Motor Speedway. You can get out on the track. 36 degree banks.
Visit Bristol, one lane of the main street (State Street) is in TN and the other is in VA Lots of antique shops.
Rhythm and Roots festival in Bristol (Bluegrass)

Over near Kingsport (~20 miles) there is Bays Mountain Park. I understand that they have a nice educational center that your daughter might enjoy.
