Diffusion Is the movement of molecules in a system to spread out a concentrated substance until an equilibrium is reached. Osmosis is diffusion through a semipermeable membrane. In osmosis only the water moves to achieve the equilibrium.

Osmosis, by definition, is diffusion of water. The usage of semipermeable membranes is only used to ensure that only the water diffuses, and not any solutes. eg if you have two different concentrations of sugar water seperated by a semipermeable membrane, the sugar molecules stay put, and water will diffuse across the membrane. The movement of the water molecules is what osmosis is.

Diffusion is the spreading of something across an area from high to low concentration. Think of spraying perfume and smelling in across the room eventually. Osmosis is the same thing just using water. Basically the movement of water from a concentration of high water to a concentration of low water.

Diffusion is moelcules moving from high concetration to low concentration. Imagine if you put a group of 20 smelly sweating people in a gym. They're naturally going to spread away from each other and balance the gym out. Thats what diffusion is only on the cellular level. Moelcules flow in and out of the cell to balance the amount of salt, water, or what ever the moelcule my be out. And osmosis is basically the diffusion of water. bout as simple as I can say it.

diffusion is where the particles spread out to form and equal distribution of atoms in a solution e.g. ink in water but osmosis is basically the same exept through a semi permeable membrane and only the water molecules move

Diffusion occurs when particles pass from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Osmosis is when water passes from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Osmosis is where you have two chambers where two different fluids are allowed to blend back and forth equally until evenly distributed through some sort of filter.
Diffusion is where a small amount of fluid is gradually allowed to pass into another.
