The best time to conceive is before you ovulate (release an egg), and most women ovulate about 14 days BEFORE their next period starts.

For example, I have a 32 day cycle and I ovulate on about CD18 or CD19 (CD=cycle day).

This gets tricky because we don't know exactly when our period is going to start.

Women are less likely of getting pregnant if they only have sex on the day they ovulate, as the egg is only be capable of being fertilised for 18-48 hours after ovulation.

A lot of women don't realise all of this, there are a LOT of misconceptions about getting pregant, and it doesn't help because it's all a little confusing, but luckily some clever people have come up with ovulation calculators to help, so perhaps this might be useful to you...

I hope that everything goes well for you, and that you're blessed very soon. Wishing you lots of luck!

The first day of your period is called Day 1. You then count all the days till you get your period again. The total number of those days is the length of your menstrual cycle. Fourteen days after you ovulate (when an egg is ready to meet the sperm) you get your period. That means if you ovulate on Day 20, your cycle will be 34 days total (20 + 14). Or, if you ovulate on Day 8, you're cycle will be 22 days long.

You could assume that because your cycles are usually 28 days that you ovulate on Day 14 (28 minus 14) of your period. But how do you know you are going to ovulate on day 14 of this cycle? The truth is, you don't. Your next cycle may only be 18 days. This means you are going to ovulate on Day 4 (18 minus 14). Because sperm live for about five days, and are viable (strong enough to possibly make you pregnant) for about three days, this means that if you have sex on your period you could get pregnant. Or your cycle may be 35 days this time. This means on Day 21, when you think the egg is no longer going to be around, it's actually ripe and ready to get fertilized and make you pregnant!

Your most fertile day is on the day of, or the day prior to ovulation, which typically occurs 14 days before menses.

This is most helpful if your periods are regular and predictable.

For example: if you have a 28 day cycle, you typically ovulate on cycle day 14. So have sex from cycle day 12 to 14 to be covered.

If you have a 35 day cycle, you typically ovulate on cycle day 21, therefore, have sex cycle days 19-21.

Otherwise sex 2-3 times per week is adequate. Sperm live up to six days. Ovulation predictor kits do NOT help you get pregant faster, so you don't always need them. Use them if you must time your intercourse due to scheduling conflicts or if you're not sure when you're ovulating.

Here is a link to an ovulation calendar. Go by this and it should calculate the best time for her to become pregnant.

Sounds unusual, sounds like alot of bleeding for there to be no longer something incorrect. yet whilst the ultrasound says that each thing is positive then i think which you're positive, i might visit the scientific docs anyhow next time if it happens lower back. good luck!

7-14 days after her last period....I believe is the most fertile time.

However, this may differ from person to person....each womans cycle is unique.

If you are hoping to conceive then I would suggest you invest in a fertility kit...or research ovulation (temperatures etc).

If you are hoping not to conceive, then I would suggest one (or even better - more than one!) method of contraception!

About two weeks should do the trick, and of course, a good load of sperm sure helps.
