Thank you all for the answers so far they are all "neat" and some over lap, but they each hold original ideas, if we all sat in a room together and looked at all these answers, we could probably "put together" one powerhouse definition....

I have been brain washed by "South Park". After studying my love relationship with this crazy show I've discoverd that this love is a well plotted attempt from "Brain" (Pinky & The Brian) to yet again take over the world. The writers of "South Park", < >, are none other than Pinkey and the Brain.

Further, it is well documented that "Mystical Manipulation, The Demand For Purity, Confession, Sacred Science, Loading the Language, Doctrine Over Person, & Dispensing of Existence" are all techniques that Pinky and the Brain have used in this cheep production of the cartoon "South Park".

Using a substance to wash your brain with. Commercials use their brand name products and wash your brain with that so your brain only wants brand name products. The government uses THEIR "morals" and tell you wants wrong and right to wash your brain, so you think victimless crimes are things that should stay illegal, and they tell you what new laws are "necessary" for your "protection". Religion uses "God" to wash your brain, and impose their beliefs unto you, and make moving foward in society difficult (True Christians don't believe evolution is real and think that the world really was created in 6 days, and that man was here first and dinosaurs never existed. They seriously think the Earth is only thousands of years old, as the bible says, and not billions of years old, as the facts say). Doctors use invented diseases to wash your brain and get you to think there's something wrong with your hyperactive kid, so they could sell you drugs... But how come ADHD wasn't a problem before? Maybe ADHD is caused by the television that washes your brain of everything.

The ability to persuade someone to believe or feel the ways you want them to feel even against their own better judgment! Kinda like what Hitler did in Germany and How Islamic Radicals have twisted the peaceful message of the Koran to manipulate thousands of followers.

brain washing is trying to put in someone's brain an idea that this person did not have before on his/her own and trying to make him/her think that it has always been his/her idea. brainwashing must not be confused with propaganda. brainwashing is much more difficult to achieve whereas propaganda only consists in deforming a fact to have people believe in accordance with the reality you are trying to represent.
