I'm not sure if it is okay to ask "What's your name" then tell that person (inside your classroom) your name then ask their personal background then eventually small talk on the 1st day you met them in school. Is that okay? I know I will need to greet them everyday. What is your first words to a person you want to be friends with in school? I want to make more friends.

say "hey what's up, i'm(yourname)" then she'll tell you her name and just catch up with her between classes and ask her how it's going.

Just smile, say hi,ask them what classes they're in. Don't ask too much stuff at first, learn about them gradually. just be yourself
