The idea behind capitalism is that only the businesses that make the best products survive. However, it seems that A LOT of businesses make money off exploiting human weaknesses, instead of figuring out ways to better our lifestyle. Agree?

(Please take note that I am not saying we should abandon capitalism, but this is a phenomenon everyone should be aware of)

Information, or lack thereof

Most economic models of capitalism assumes perfect information. This of course is never a reality. The best example are "Get Rich Quick" schemes. These businesses are aimed at making money off of ignorance. When you expand this idea to larger companies it still usually pertains to areas the people simply don't know about. Maybe coca cola uses certain practices in their foreign factories that if we had full knowledge about would be so damning that everyone would be persuaded to boycott coca cola (this is just a speculative scenario, not an accusation).

The biggest weakness of capitalism is that the losers and excuse makers of society always find ways to elect politicians who destroy it for their own personal political gain.

"instead of figuring out ways to better our lifestyle" - give up all the innovations of capitalism for the past 30 years and find out if your lifestyle is better or worse than it is now.
