So my bf of 3.5 years broke up with me. All this time he avoids being with my family as much as he can, he acts weird when we're at my house and my sister and her husband come over and we have to sit there making chit chat. Recently, he wanted to know how to install something, and my dad was all sweet and explained it to him. He was all weird about this, saying he shouldn't give a damn...i was like...what??. To celebrate my birthday my family always take me to eat somewhere, he has always refused to acompany me. When i ask him why he makes such a big deal out of this, 'cause i know he is friendly with other people's parents and siblings, just not mine, he says he doesn't feel comfortable, that he wanted to be with me, not them. I thought it's just a worst case of being intimidated by the in-laws, so i never pushed him to be a part of my family life, i know i feel akward around his family too, but i did go when invited to his family gatherings. Did he just not want to get too involved?

if you were dating for 3.5 years... if he wanted to spend those 3.5 years with you... then he SHOULD HAVE wanted to get involved!
it's a good thing you two broke up... i KNOW there's someone better out there for you... he seemed to be completely insensitive of your feelings!

seems like he really was trying to come up with a way to break up with you. my ex boyfriend did the same thing and his reasons was that he didn't feel love anymore. so really have a serious one on one talk with him and ask why and the rest is up to you.
