The Welsh, as a nation, don't have better voices than any other nation. The answer lies in the culture. People with good voices are, from a very young age, encouraged to use them (choirs etc), develop them and make a career out of using them. It's the same situation with, say, the Russians and chess players, Chess is in their culture and this encourages more players to come forward.

I think it dates back to the times when they didn't have phones. Due to the natural acoustics created by the mountains shouting your message to the nearest town was probably easier than sending a letter. Much like the alpine horns. The great singing evolved from that.

I wish you had some examples. I know Catherine Zeta Jones is Welsh, but she can't sing worth a damn. Who were you thinking of?

not all Welsh people can sing about 98% can,me and miss church cannot.
