Make your own pH paper, it tests how acid and base things are.

1. get some "acid free" paper from the craft store.

2. get some canned blue berries, like the ones they have in muffin mix. Not the pie filling type with all the glaze.

3. Don't drain the berries, pour juice and berries in small sauce pan. Simmer the blueberries in a little bit (1 1/2 cups) of water for about 10 minutes, until the water is colored really well.

4. Strain the blue berries, SAVE the liquid!

5. Dip your acid free paper in the colored water. Let it get soaking, but don't let it fall apart.

6. Try to only handle the edges. Put it on some tinfoil to dry. (don't touch it with anything else, like paper towels)

7. When it is dry cut it into strips about 1/2 inch wide

8. Try out your pH paper. Acid things should turn it pink, and base things (alkaline) things should turn it blue or green!

Try household things like Vinegar, bakingsoda, Orange juice, laundry detergent, etc.

You know you can get a buzz on your tounge from a 9 volt battery (we've all done it as kids so don't act like you didn't)? Well you can send an electric current the same way using pennies and lemons. Cut two slits in a lemon and stick the pennies in them. Wait a few minutes and stick your tounge on the pennies. You get the same shock. It won't operate things as a battery would, but you still feel it. I'm not sure if this is in your age group, but it's one of the coolest things I know.

Oh yeah, before putting your mouth on the penny, you can clean them by soaking them in ketchup overnight.
