I don't think so and I'm a Cardinals fan. I will say that it's probably easier now than ever because of the 3 divisions in each league but I don't think the Cards upper management will keep making the moves to make them an upper tier team every year. They have a terrible farm system right now because they always trade away their prospects for journeyman players that won't be around long term, and the rarely spend enough money to get a big time player via free agency. I do think they do a good keeping the team competitive under what seems to be their philosophy but I just don't see a 14 year run in them.

So many records in the past few decades that were "unapproachable" eventually got broken-- look at Aaron, McGwire, Bonds, Rose, Ichiro, Ripken, for instance, so who knows? Maybe some team will win 20 straight years. I would say highly unlikely because of free agency, but then again, the Yankees (mostly through Steinbrenner's check book) have won 1st place 8 years (soon 9) in a row.
Sorry, I wouldn't call the Cards "hot" -- a team that is only 10 games or so above .500. The Mets are 35 games over .500--are they going to be a 15-year dynasty?

It already did break. The Braves are elimated from winning the NL East, meaning they cannot win the division anymore. As of right now, the Mets "magic number" is 3.

The Cardinals are NOT hot. Admittedly they have had a great team for a few years now but this year they are merely floating atop a weak division in a weak league.

It would be nice to see, but I think the Cards are in trouble for the future. They need to get a bigger budget

Just because they're hot now doesn't mean they can stay hot for 15 years.

No. The Cards' players are getting old and many players are inexpirienced.
