Yes as a farrier I come across all sorts of horses looking for homes. People who don't have the time anymore or can't afford them some times need to get rid of some or all of their herd. Contact some local vets and rescues and let them know you're looking. Good luck

Actually yes! Contrary to popular belief there are good FREE horses out there!! I am the happy and proud owner of a horse that was given to me as the owner could not give it the attention that it deserved.

Hopefully the current owner is honest and the animal does not have any major health problems that would make the price less than desirable somewhere down the road.

Good luck.

Millions of pets, including horses, are given away because there owners can't take care of them or there is something wrong with them.

Do some investigating and ask some questions:

How old is the horse? A mini horse usually lives to be 30 to 50 years old (much older than standard horses). If is really old....maybe they are giving it away because they don't want to watch it die.

Does it have any health issues? Maybe they are too expensive.

Is it rank? Maybe the horse is not ridable..he could bite..kick...buck.

Maybe he cribs?

Usually a horse with no problems is worth something.

Good luck

You might be able to adopt one or foster one through a rescue organization...though most places have adoption fees. However, keep in mind that even if you can get the horse the up keep will probably run you from $700 up per year.

You can go to freecycle.or and look up where you live. Then you can post anything on there you are looking for. You can also receive all kinds of free stuff. i have weeding out my closets and giving to people on there. It's a great sight You never do know someone may know of someone who has one they want to find a good home for. You can ask your vet's too. They may know of someone. GOOD LUCK.

Yes. They usaully have something wrong with them. Like lameness or sickness. Their owners just get sick of them or can't afford them anymore.
