Seems though their system is designed to earn interest on their customers money for months before returning it. Is that even legal?

I had a similar problem with them. They took months to refund a bunch of money they owed me. But in the end they gave me far more than they owed me. Keep complaining and talking to the supervisors. The supervisors have a management group over them, they can do a lot of stuff to help you.

Also consider taking them to small claims. That will cost them a bunch of money just to answer the suit.

They are hoping you don't catch on and they get the free money and increase their profit.
