over this summer, my best friend moved to the philipines. it was just to visit, but still, having my best friend gone wasn't the brightest thing. what she did was check her e-mail and myspace often. u should update ur myspace daily with new pics, check e-mail at least once a day. mailing letters is great too. people don't mail as often cuz e-mail is faster, so when u get a letter, u feel special. ur friends won't forget about u if u do that!! mailing gifts to friends is a good way to keep ur friendship going with them too. plus, u should feel lucky! not everybody gets to stay in london! all my friends wanna go!

Just try to be thankful to have an opportunity that most teens never got... the chance to be immersed in a different culture/country... Try to soak up as much as you can, you might not have a chance like this again... I would LOVE to explore London, see all the sights that we stuck here will most likely never get to experiance... The Britons are are staunch allies, our good friends here in the States, and I would love the opportunity to tell them so in person. I have to tell you, if you hail from LA, London can't be that much of a shock, can it ??? The only thing I have to take exception to is that I have heard that they drink their beer at room temperatures... Is that true ??? Ewwwwwwwwwwww.. Anyway, e-mail your friends, call them, and keep in touch... I know that at this time in your life, 5 yrs seems like a long time, but is really is just a drop i n the bucket...Try to enjoy your experiance, and meet the local kids...Chances are, you are not really that different.....

I moved to England from the u . s . whilst i became 14 too. I completely understand what you're dealing with. I hated it earlier each thing- each thing became so distinctive. (yet now, 9 years later, i'm nonetheless right here even however my family contributors have moved lower back!) for sure your first priority is basically to purpose and make friends in school- which will make or smash this adventure for you. I had some issues settling in in school, yet as quickly as I did i became relatively happy (despite if i did no longer recognize it til later because of the fact on the time i became so desperate that I wasn't!) you would be uncovered to all sorts of issues which you under no circumstances have earlier and little variations between the international locations will save doping up and stressful you, like particular words getting used or some thing you recognize you cant purchase over right here. whilst i became 14 it consistently felt like the tip of the worldwide to me as quickly as I realised there have been particular television exhibits i wouldn't in any respect see lower back, or time-honored meals i could no longer get... It became an countless checklist of frustrations. you will basically could recover from that- you're additionally going to locate assorted issues you like relating to the united kingdom which you probably did no longer get at abode. at present, whichever united states i'm in, there is a few thing I omit! Do you have any siblings? My brother and that i individually bonded over all those products whilst we first moved over, having him conflict via all of it on an identical time made it plenty extra convenient. that's a great adjustment, it is, yet you will awaken sometime and each thing will experience regular- it basically takes time. And that's a good adventure, interior the long-term you are going to benefit from it plenty better than you would be able to desire to recognize remarkable now.

Have friends that are still here tape shows for you or send you dvds or copies of reality shows or something. Even though you are homesick, hopefully in the future you can see the upside to this & take advantage of being there. Most of us will never get to visit London in our lifetime. Find the silver lining. Good luck!

Go to Mc Donalds, make American friends. You'll end up liking it more than L.A., London's a great city. Too bad the weather sucks. I recommend you take the train to France or Spain and get to know Europe while you're there!

Actually, you may be able to use your proximity to mainland Europe to your advantage. When your family plans a vacation, ask them to take you to Germany, France, Italy, etc. You may never have the opportunity to visit so many countries when you move back to the US.
I've been to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and had a great time. If you enjoy history, museums, art, and culture I suggest you give it a shot. It may be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Don't think about the U.S., it'll just make you more homesick. Relax, meet new friends, read their stupid etiquette rules and at their accent. You'll find a way to adapt. Have an occasional LOL!

I know how you feel. I'm in the US now, but i want to be back in Australia (that's where I'm from). But not much i can do now, I have a home and a family. I know how much you miss your homeland, but you may like it after a while.
I wish that i could do a little more to help, but i don't know. sorry. good luck to ya.

Find some penpals your age. To be safe I'd make sure your parents knew who you were talking to. Once you get penpals & the letters start rolling in you will have something to look forward to.
There are tons of penpal sites online. But like I said, make sure your parents know who you're talking to.

Try to adapt. It`s normal to be homesick but you have no other choice. Hope you make friends soon, that will help you. And believe, time does fly.
