The ACLU takes the broadest possible view of the civil rights they choose to defend; including the view that the 14th Amendment incorporates the 1st, 4th, 5th etc. as "fundamental rights." But for some reason they don't like the 2d. So how do they claim to defend the "Bill of Rights" of which the second is clearly a part? The fact that others defend the rights of free speech, of the press & of religion has never stopped the ACLU from joining in their defense. Some might call it hypocrisy.

The ACLU is, according to many people, a subversive organization which is determined to destroy the American way of life as it has been known for the first 200 years of this country's existence. Yes, they have their own agenda.
They have been all over the southern edge of Arizona helping illegals to avoid the border patrol, and harrassing the minutemen, just looking for one of them to make a mistake so they can file a lawsuit.

Every dictatorship has always disarmed people first before implementing the dictatorship.
In America, most of the dictatorship has been in place except for disarming the populace. Americans would need a good reason to simply throw away their second amendment rights and part with their weapons. The assassination of G.W. Bush could be just that....

Yes. That's a fair assessment. They focus on the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th primarily, since that is their agenda. Because there are other groups (NRA) who defend the 2nd. And because they have finite resources.
Also, remember that the 2nd only applies to federal regulation of firearms, not state gun laws.

Priorities. There is already a well-funded organization that fights for the 2nd Amendment - the NRA. They are more focused on "civil liberties", like free speech and freedom of religion (hence the name).

Becuase that's their focus and those seem to be most infringed rights. The NRA and plenty of others look after the 2nd amendment. Plus, its really not infringed. Come on, you can own basically any type of weapon you want.
