I have a very nosy and curious neighbor, yet he is a good friend of mine, and has been since we were kids.
But this " habit " of his is forcing every one - including myself - to avoid socializing with him, and the poor guy is surprised why he is being treated this way !! Should I be frank and tell him why? or shall I leave it this way until he figure it out by himself ??

If hes a friend of yours tell him that he gets to involved sometimes and you and others would like it if he would stop. Don't just push him out of your life thats not fair, tell him what bothers you and tell him that if he did it less often then you would apreshiate it.

you could be more blunt with him when he's being nosy and saying you don't want to talk about it, can you come back at another time....etc. Or just be like Dang Rupert, why you gotta be so dang nosy all the time! Relax!

or

maybe you should move ;)

You need to let him know, or else he will never "figure it out". Don't tear into him, just catch him in a moment wehre he seems open to a deep conversation and let him know you like him, but he needs to keep to his own businees, in fact, he may not know what to do with himself and thats may be why he's nosey.

Yes, you should tell him. If you have known hims since you guys were kids it should not be too difficult. This will help him in the long run. Good luck.

If you"re comfortable with it do everything in the buff. Maybe then he won't be so nosy or curious.

Tell your friend that he is bothering the other people in the neighborhood, including you and that he should probably lay off.

maybe he is bored and has nothing better to do. make a joke out of it but just make a comment like" damn you sure are always in everyones business!" then laugh. he will get the point.
