First, relax. The SAT is a test like any other test and you can prepare for it. I took it about three years ago and had a private tutor here in Seattle. That being said, there are a lot of affordable options out there today.

The SAT tests three key areas:
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics

Each of these three sections of the test is scored from 200 - 800 points. That means your total composite score will be between 600 and 2400.

The tests costs $41.50 and you should make sure to register online at Collegeboard.com

Good luck!

It wasn't too bad, but then again, I took it over 6 years ago. If you've done okay so far in high school, you'll probably do about the same on the test, since it's a cumulative exam of everything you should have learned by now. Hopefully you've taken some kind of course or practice test by now. Also, it's proven that student who take the test multiple times improve their scores each time. Good luck!
