Mashed potatoes, mashed beets, mashed carrots, pureed meats, cream of wheat (just make sure it's runny), avocados, and just about anything else you can imagine. Just make sure it is about the same consistency as the rice cereal or just a bit thicker. Of course always watch for symptoms of food allergies like rashes or hives. Have fun.

At 7 months a baby can be introduced to most foods so long as they are not salted or seasoned in any way. It is better to introduce new foods one at a time if you are concerned about allergies as this will make it easier to identify the culprit food if any reaction develops. Any vegetables or fruits that can be gently steamed (to retain the vitamins) then mashed or pureed, vegetable soups (without salt or seasoning), porridge made from oats and milk or water or your babies formula milk. Tiny well cooked pasta shapes in a simple salt free tomato sauce. It is also a good idea to begin leaving some texture in the food and not blending it completely smooth as babies sometimes become so used to foods being totally smooth that it can be difficult to make the transition to solids. Once a baby has teeth its ok to introduce finger foods like a piece of banana, a little piece of bread etc. but remember not to worry if it is only played with as it is more to help your child to be adventurous with food than anything else. Above all be assured that a child of this age cannot starve itself and is receiving all it really needs in breast of formula milk, all other foods are just for the experience and to build adventurousness for the future.

I only sue the cereal at breakfast. Try the oatmeal for a change, mix it with fruits that you have stewed yourself. Try some boiled dried apricots that you then blitz in a food processor. My daughter is also 7 months and she eats practically everything. I always make my own. Get some fresh veg, squash, carrots, green beans, peas, leek, potato and go wild! try different combinations. I recently started to add some protein, like minced chicken and white fish. Make her a bolognese sauce with fresh tomato and basil. There is loads of stuff to try. Get Annabel Karmel's book," Baby and toddler meal planner". It has loads of wonderful ideas that will take you right through until your child is 2. My friend sent me mine from the UK, but i'm pretty sure she has the book out here too. Good luck.

I never liked the idea of Cheerios because I always feared it would get caught in my children's throat. At 7 months the only thing in edition to the baby food, cereal, and mashed patatoes that I gave was scrambled eggs, somtimes rice. I basically gave them anything that I could smash up or that I new was soft enough for them to swallow. Green beans was a favorite. The link shows you various charts that will help you decide where you child is and what he should be eating.
I hope this helps.

have u tried other types of cereal? not jus the rice kind? Nestle makes a wide variety of baby cereals. My baby's favorite was wheat and fruit.
Try making your own regular baby fod. Mushing up carrots and peas and squash and potatoes.
Your baby being 7 months old can eat a lot more then just rice cereal. If he has teeth, and can chew, try giving him other soft, mushy foods, or foods that will dissovle quickly. Experiment till you find something he likes.

Yogurt and fromage frais is also a good way to get extra calcium into him. Also Weetabix is fab as it goes dead mushy so you don't have to worry about him choking, and ready brek. Also try some toast with different toppings on cut up into soldiers as. Spaghetti cut up is good too as they can use their fingers, but if they do swallow some before chewing it is not a big deal as the pieces are so small. Just try him with everything, the more he tries now, the less fussy he will be as he grows up. If you are worried about him choking then just stick it in the food processor.

I also have a 7 month old, I give him, mashed potatoes, refried beans, baby foods consisting of fruits and veggies, soup (the liquid only) I let him chew on bread, but you MUST watch him because it gets soggy and they may choke. Basically anything as long as you can mash it up.

i was trying to get my little one to eat anthing at that age that does not have egg in and is not too chewy or a processed food. If you go to a book shop then there is books on different foods you can make for babys and some of its not too bad.
My son is now 21 months so i have to be doing something right as he is perfectly healthy

Anything and everything as long as it's soft enough for him to eat.If he likes carrots ,try sweet potatoes and squash. The key to getting a child to eat a healthy diet is to offer a variety of healthy foods early on so that they develop a taste for veggies and fruits instead of "junk".Try yogurt;avacado, vegetable stew, pasta, bananas(although don't go overboard with the fruits,or your baby will develop a taste for sweet foods),really anything that you eat is okay unless it's terribly spicy (hot).Good luck!

We had a small food grinder for making baby food , some one gave it to my wife as a shower gift. It was so handy clamped to the table and just ground up what we were eating and the kids loved it, and it saved tons of money on not buying so much baby food.
