What all do I need to buy along with an electric guitar?

I know that I need pick and an amp, but what kind of cable do I need to connect the guitar to the amp. And what else do I need?

my uncle has aelectris guitar and he's in a band but all I know thjat he needs is an amp but I can see that you've got that.

skill, and i like the woven cable that look like nylon, the last longer and have a good sound, might also want to invest in a distortion pedal
