Yes. She is/was a Family Court Judge in New York. Judge Judy Rocks!

I think with the possible exception of Judge Maybeline (sp?), all those judges on TV are real. I've been to law school, and Judge Judy does seem to always apply principles from the top three legal areas: contracts, property, and torts.
I worked with a woman whose son is a real judge and made it as a finalist to audition for one of those new court shows that keep cropping up, so there have to be at least some real ones out there.
