The email basically said this:

"Unusual account activity has made it necessary to limit sensitive account features until additional verification information can be collected.
We have been notified that a card associated with your account has been reported as lost or stolen, or that there were additional problems with your card.
If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporary suspend your account."

The bad thing is I don't recall ever creating a penpal account, and if I did, it was a long time ago and I've never used it!! Should I ignore it and delete it? what should I do?
Thanks!

Could be phishing. If you are definitely sure that you do not have an account with PayPal, don't respond to the email nor click on any link from the email that would ask for any of your account information.

Never ever reply to or click on links in emails that have anything to do with your money. The scammers are getting more and more sophisticated. Whenever anything has to do with one of your financial sites, go to the site in your normal way -- never via the email. Also, it might be good for you to google "identity theft" and then "phishing" to learn how to protect yourself.

This is a scam.

Forward this to spoof@paypal.com

They get (steal) people's accounts using this email and others like it.

Notify PayPal directly and do not use any link in that email.

Yes this is a scam, delete it, don't respond to it, they are only phishing for your personal information.

If you have Firefox with Google Toolbar (including Google Safe Browsing) it will warn you when you visit a fake Paypal site. Get Firefox with Google Toolbar (including Google Safe Browsing) here: http://www.cybertopcops.com/free-downloads.php#firefox
