I am from California. I am basically a Southerner at heart and love accents and am slightly right of center politically and Christian. I have had Southern friends all my life. I have been to D.C., Baltimore, Florida and Louisiana. If I move to NC would there be any cultural "shocks" I need to be aware of now, or "deal-killers" that might prevent me from being able to adjust to life in the Tarheel State? Thank ya kindly.

The tarheel state is one with natural beauty abounding, great cities, wonderful colleges and universities, and some awesome people. Oh, just so you know, in NC, NOTHING from Virginia, DC, and Baltimore and northward is considered Southern. (Just trying to keep you out of trouble.) Enjoy NC, it's a great place!

Southern Hospitality is a way of life rather than a cliche. Larger cities have their problems, as all do, but the rural aeas are peaceful. Located in the 'Bible Belt' so finding a church you are comfortable in should be no problem. Mountains or beaches, your chioce at a fraction of the cost of CA living.
See Ya!

Just so you know, I have been in NC my entire life, and NC is a little right of right. Which is way past center. Get a pickup truck and a rebel flag with a gun rack and you should fit right in.

Great other than that.

What area, some are better than others.
