flash memory as in usb memory stick?
there's nothing much to look out for except the amount of space on it and USB 2.0 (faster than 1.0) compatible.
you could get a cheap 1Gb for around £20 now....i manged to get a sony 512kb for £6 off ebay (i prfererred the look and the sony brand)

You HAVE to know what type you need.. period. Variety of flash memory, if it is for a camera or mp3 player, look up model number on Net and see what TYPE it takes, then shop around for the type and size you desire.

well you need to know what type ! SD, CF, MMC, Sony memory stick ? check the user guide of that device for which you need the flash memory. Is a digital camera, mp3 player ...?

I sort of know what I think you are talking about, could it be flash thumb drives? Anyway I would look somewhere like http://www.compusa.com http://www.bestbuy.com http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com
They all have memory sections that list various flash memory styles and show pictures as this my give you an idea of which one you mean. They also often have sales listed where they feature a particular name-brand that week.
