Someone that has seen this help me understand. I didnt get it really.. ok I know they are dead but when did they die??

both she & her daughter are trapped in alternate universe. in the game that dimension is called "Nowhere".

If you breathe the air in silent hill.... it is your grave. It's not a normal death for you are still alive but in a different dimension. Almost as if is were a median between worlds. That's why the cop told the guy to put his mask back on, he was falling. Therefore in the next movie i also believe that the dad is going back to look for them a second time and is going to find them not there and will be drawin in with the rest of the world as to look for something that has been missing. They died in the car accident when they started swerving on the road. The whole thing was like a type of pergatory.

Both of them are dead since the car crash. The movie sucked.

it was also confusing for me. i think they died during the car accident in the first part of the movie. the rest of the movie was about their souls being trapped in that dimension.

my guess was that they were still in the same dimension that all the monsters were in because they died

i didn't really understand the end myself. and they couldn't have died in the car because when her husband came looking the cops said they weren't in there. i dunno myself
