can you use emla cream or any other numbing/freezing creams on the ear cartilage before it is pierced?

Not a great idea as the needle will drive the cream into your ear. What works quite well is a good old fashioned ice cube.

They do use an antiseptic wipe on the ear before they do it which tingles. I wouldnt worry. It does hurt slightly when they do it, but it is over so fast that it is done before you know it. If you are worried I would ask to get both ears done together (costs more but worth it) so it only takes a second. After they will go very red and tingle, but if you use the antiseptic drops they provide it cools it down and makes it feel better.

Hope this helps.

It feels the same as getting a piercing/earring in the earlobe part. What hurt more was while the cartiledge piercing was healing it was more sore. Like if it I hit it with a brush or the phone, etc. You'll be fine.

It is not cartilage which is pierced, but just the soft and fleshy ear lobe.

When I had mine done 28 years ago, the guy used a freeze spray, but it still hurt like Hell and I had to sit down with my head between my knees between one ear being pierced and the other. Maybe it is less painful these days.

YEAH, BUT IT DOESN'T HURT SO IT'S POINTLESS TO NUMB IT. I have pierced my ears and cartilage by myself many times, trust me. If you do decide to do it by yourself make sure to use a studded earing so it will go through quicker and cleaner.
Can you please answer my question since I answerd yours? I really need help.

Ice cubes... Simplest and don't need to worry about not using them on broken skin!

if your not doing it yourself, which I wouldnt advise, when you have it done they will use a gun to drive the stud thru, its over in seconds & doesnt hurt, but if it makes you feel better use ice.
