I always thought bodies were placed 6 feet deep. I am terrified that if an earthquake or other natural disaster should occur, caskets may become unearthed. Should I notify the police?

The graves are 6 feet deep but there is 3 feet of dirt on top of the vault (that is what the casket is in). I work at a funeral home.

I don't think the police could help with this problem but there has to be a cemetary committe somewhere that needs to know this information. It IS supposed to be 6 feet!

they are supposed to be burried 6 ft to stop them from rising if there is a flood because the dirt turns to mud and decomposition creates alot of gases that make the casket rise, but who cares?

It maybe its the case of geology. There maybe a rock layer preventing them digging further. I should ask the Council why this is so though.
