The lower ball joint has to be removed from the A arm in order to pull the Axel out of the hub the ball joint is pressed into the A arm and will have to be forced apart. If you have a ball joint separator uses it if not remove the nut just far enough to see a gap behind it and hit the nut with a large hammer, this may damage the nut so be careful. Once it pops you should be able to pull the strut far enough to remove the end of the axle, you may have to turn the steering wheel to get it to move far enough. To pop the axle out of the side of the transaxle you just pry it out with a big pry bar placed between the transaxle and inner C.V. joint it is held in with a spring clip.
