Eat a lighter lunch. Usually the body gets sleepy after eating because it is trying to work and digest the food you ate so it is putting all its energy into that and that is why you are probably getting so sleepy. Drink plenty of water as well to help move the digestion process along easier and quicker. Just eat a lighter lunch like a sandwich and yogurt or something. See if it helps.=0)

Perhaps you are hypoglycemic like a good many Americans. This could be a prequel to Diabetis type 2. Try 5 or 6 small meals a day. Balance carbs with proteins and veggies, instead of large carb loads. Get checked with a blood test to confirm any endocrine problems.

your body is using it's sugars to help with the digestion..this is why you should have something sweet with your lunch. It doesn't happen so much with breakfast because you don't eat that much and the food is different.
Dinner you don't really notice it because your body has plenty of sugars from during the day..eat a lot at night and you will see you will get tired because your body need more sugar than it has.
If you think about it you sleep for about 8 hours so you have plenty of sugars from dinner for the breakfast, and because the food is different you don't feel drowsy..but because your body uses a lot of energy until lunch time it uses what it has left to digest the food.
I've also heard that the starch in potatoes makes you sleepy..

To avoiod feeling sleepy after lunch, avoid eating sugars and carbohydrates during lunch (very hard to do)!! Do not let yourself be so hungry (hypoglycemic) and then eat as foods (sugars too) will create a rush of insulin and thus, a temporary hypoglycemia = sleeping!!

Wee, according to Dr. Gillian McKeith's You Are What You Eat book, this happens because of the foods that you combine on the meal that you eat. It's hard for your body to digest carbohydrates and proteins in the same meal. Basically, you feel tired because all your energy goes towards digesting your food.
