Uh, yeah. What planet are you from. That is one of the major factors when deciding an MVP. I think RBI's and Home Runs are the two other important factors. When Ichiro won the AL MVP, he was the batting champ. A better question should be should a DH win MVP, or should a starting pitcher get MVP. I'm upset at the absurdity of your question.

Initially, I rated this a thumbs down. But...after thinking more about it, maybe it's not that bad of a question.

The guys winning batting titles are generally hitting a lot of singles, while the MVP cantidates are hitting dingers.

Ichiro got an MVP, but I can't think of too many others that won batting titles AND MVP's in the same year.

I officially retract my thumbs down.

shaqandkobe - Alex Rodriguez did win the MVP last year but he finished second in batting to Texas' Michael Young. That's why Ichiro is brought up. And Barry Bonds. And every triple crown winner ever.

I'd say every triple crown winner has done it, at least since the advent of the mvp award. Frank Robinson and Carl Yasztremski did it in '66 and '67.
