where did the teens in the 1940s hangout?

in cars having sex and dark-secluded public places sneaking alcohol.... man, things sure have changed.

I have a book about the era and it shows and speaks of teens hanging out in soda shops, the shows (movies) and believe it or not most teens went to school all day, then were home for dinner with the family at about 6.

Ah ah, this is for that story again.

Once again, it depends on where.

The USA I suppose.

Drugstores: they had eating counters, were open later than many businesses, usually had a phone where somebody could reach you if necessary, often had a soda fountain intended to attract younger customers, and often hired teenagers as stock clerks, errand boys, soda jerks, sold smokes; and if you want to be more sinister, was sometimes the source of illegal booze and pills and info and resources for abortiond.
