can i put music from my windows media player on to a sony hard drive walkman is it different to an i pod

I'm not too sure what you're asking, but my Sony mp3 player came with it's own software called Sony Sonic Stage which allows you to transfer music. All your Windows Media files can be converted to use Sony Sonic Stage easily. Hope this helps!

Sony mp3's will only accept file via sonicstage - they get converted somehow.
It takes a lot longer to copy a cd via sonicstage, than any other mp3's I have used, so it must be doing something quite major.
