You have 2 equations:
y= -2x + 3y (equation 1)
y= -x + 6 (equation 2)
since y= -x + 6 I can replace y by -x + 6 in (equation 1)
I get
-x + 6 = -2x +3*(-x+6) = -2x -3x + (3*6) = -5x +18
I subtract 6 on each side and I get
-x = -5x +12
I add 5 x on each side I get
5x-x = 4x = 12
I divide by 4 and I get
x=3
but I know that y= -x + 6 which means that y = -3 + 6 = 3
so X=Y=3
