If you are running Windows, open windows file explorer (the icon with the magnifying glass on the folder). Right-click your C drive and choose 'Properties'.

Do the following
1. Double Click on My Computer
2. Put your mouse pointer over your hard drive letter. Most common is C: it will pop up beside your mouse with the remaining space and the total space that your drive has.

Click start, my computer, right click on c drive, properties.
But be wary of downloading certain things, check out the site and make sure it is a trusted one, because a lot of sites for downloading games and programs sometime contain spyware and virus.

An easy way to check (the one I always use cuz my computer is so slow) is to open disk defragmenter... if you're on XP. It tells you how much free space you have.
