because he was more than just your average rapper. he spoke from his heart. he said things that alot of people were scared to say. he wasnt afraid to speak his mind. he was very political and called for a change not only in the black community but in the world as a whole. he was very intelligent, well-spoken and doesnt get as much credit as he deserves. he wasnt just a thug rapper, he was so much more.

Tupac was on another level, he mastered all forms of hip hop........he wasnt east, south or west coast, b/c he lived all over the US and was influenced by new yorkers, La rappers, Bay Area rappers plus he put his own spin on it. J kidd im guessing your too young to remember him, but i grew up in my teens listening to him here in oakland california and he was influential to many people

I think he was the voice of a generation. It wasn't just the beats or the rhythm of his songs. I think he spoke of things that were relevant to so many people. He spoke of crack addictions, gang banging, rising above oppression. He spoke like a poet, and really had his own distinct style. He was a hip hop mastermind. His music broke through so many barriers.

He was very good and then died before he could screw that up. Much like Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon, Jimmy Hendrix, and Janis Joplin...he died before he got fat, old, and out of touch.
