there are quite a few things in todays world that are interesting and thought provoking:
the war and it's effects on anything-family life, teenage boys, the draft, the president,
bullying in our schools, effects-causes-as it pertains to school shootings
harrassment in the work place, racial tensions, religious freedom
same sex marriage, insurance and stresses associated with it
not having it and societies/politics role in it...

If you want a really good idea, I'd recommend looking through psychology journals. There are a lot of sites online that allow you to access psychology journals and all the articles. That way you can look through them and find something very specific to what interests you, because the topics really are endless. Not only that, but you will have the direct sources/references for your paper.

I can think of a couple of them.
1. A current study seems to indicate that male students learn better with male teachers and female students do better with female teachers. (This article appeared on Yahoo News several weeks ago).
2. There seems to be an alarming rate of increase in "attention deficit syndrome". Is it a legitimate medical problem or it is a poor excuse due to the failure of parental guidance as well as our education system.
Have fun researching the subjects. Good luck.

How about autism and whether or not any studies have been done with regard to things like parents' incomes, intelligence, parenting abilities, etc. (A recent one was done involving the age of fathers - older fathers more likely to have an autistic child - but have all the other factors associated with older fathers also been included in that.)
Are today's freer sexual practices in teens and young adults having negative impacts on their mental wellbeing/self-esteem now or later.
Are babies and toddlers more intelligent these days because parents pass more on to them through nurturing or for some other reason - or are children no brighter today than they've ever been.
Middle Children - myths about them, realities about them.

How about why boys around the age of 14 are declining in grades?
How about the all time low scores on the SATs in 31 years?
How about why girls are scoring better on standardized tests?

Hm mm... i think of a competent subject remember could be to confirm why such assorted anybody is clinically determined as bipolar immediately. That seems to be a term possibly overused. docs could write a diagnosis whilst a affected person is considered, as a manner to bill the coverage companies. i think of this one is overstated. that does no longer propose a guy or woman isn't bipolar. I basically think of that too many anybody is probable being misdiagnosed. This subject remember could be too complicated to examine, yet it is a few thing very exciting to me a minimum of. yet another it is straightforward to desire to be why or how adults are clinically determined with upload.
