It is a girl so something girly that we could dress up with would be nice?

It would depend on the childs voice range. I would pick something that makes them happy to sing because they'll probably do a better job.

First off....BOOO to everyone else...children should not sing Peabo Bryson or "Over The Rainbow"...its like trying to sing a Mariah Carey song when you sing like Ashley Simpson...the PERFECT song that's unisex for talent (used for everything...especially good for Disney auditions) is from A Goofy Movie called "Stand Out" by Tevin Campbell...hardly anyone remembers the original sound of it (as opposed to something mainstream like "Over The Rainbow") so it can be sung however you see fit :)

I'd try "Moon River". It's pretty and has a nice melody. AND there aren't a lot of words! OR " A Whole New World", (Regina Belle & Peabo Bryson "Colors of the Wind" (Vanessa Williams) "You'll be in my Heart (Phil Collins)...these songs are from Disney/cartoon movies. Also try Broadway songs-Annie Medley, The Sound of Music, Peter Pan etc.
Broadway Kids have several CD's out with kids singing songs or try your local library in the kids' section to see what Disney CD's they have. The kids version of American Idol (American Juniors) has songs to choose from also.

ANYTHING but High School Musical. Make him sing Eminem if you have to, just NOT high school musical!!!!!!! That is the worse movie of all time!
