Many fear the GOP will grand stand a terror threat or action to scare voters to the right, Will the DNC summon a global warmed Cat 4 to destroy/ threaten the eastern seaboard to prove again how inept FEMA is, to sway voters back to the left?
I wouldn't put it past either party.

the democrats wouldn't create a natural disaster on the coast for three reasons.
1. Big difference in campaign funds. Only Republicans can afford the giant laser.
2. It wouldn't really be a "natural" disaster, would it?
3. Duh... all their voters are on the coast! if they send a monsoon, they drown with them.
