This problem is most likely caused by incorrect screen settings. The resolution of your screen is incorrect.

Solution 1.

Go to your desktop (the location where all the icons are placed and where your background appears).

Right-click on an empty spot and choose "Properties".

Select the last tab; this should be "Settings".

At the left lower corner you see "Screen resolution". Adjust it to 1024x786 or 800x600. Experiment with this and click Apply. Then OK.

If this doesn't work for you, there is a 2nd solution.

Reboot your computer.

First you see the BIOS while booting. This contains a black screen with all kinds of information about devices. Wait until it is past.

Now it goes all black. Push F8 (repeatedly to make sure you got it).

You see a list with settings such as "Safe mode" "Normal Windows" etc.

Choose "Last known correct configuration" or something like it.

Wait and see, normally it should be fixed.

Okay no panic! Two possible causes, both regarding the graphic card.
- for some reason, the resolution of the screen changed. Click with the right mouse button on your desktop and choose "properties", then "settings" and choose a decent resolution, like 1024x768 with 32-bit color.
- for some other reason, your graphic card broke. I don't think so, since you can no longer see anything if such a thing happens but it's a possibility. In this case you have to change it but be sure it's broken!

Try restarting, if that does not work, try system restore, restore it to the last good date that you can. If yousaved any important pictures/files ext... after that date you will want to put them on cd or something.

Try and restart your computer. If that doesn't work got to settings/ profile and see if you can change the sizing back to default.

Try system restore, but be sure to get all of your valuable files out on a cd first.

I think it might be your resolution on your screen. right click the desktop, properties then settings. the resolution should be at least if not higher than 800x600.

check to make sure that your graphics card is still installed correctly in the device manager. if it is, then your screen resolution is set to low and needs to be set higher.
