People may find coping skills through recreation, spirituality, and family and friends. As a society we attempt to help the over poverished but all who are fortunate need to help out for it to succeed. The U.S. is in one of the wealthiest countries and we have poverty. Poverty is not a good thing for anyone. Poverty are those who can't afford medical attention, cannot seek a career due to lack of education, don't have a home, have to live in a dangerous area because that's all they can afford, and so on. For whatever reasons they are it exists and shouldn't be ignored. People do make the best of things and still try to achieve the American dream.

First of all, you need to put yourself in this position.

How would you feel if you and your family were destitude?
Would you go to bed hungry? Would you have clothes to wear, and if yes...would you be embarrased of them? Would people treat you differently....do you treat them differently?

On the up side, maybe poor people have an appreciation for things that others don't....think about what could be good in their lives...maybe just being a stronger family entity.

Now, use your noggin, and put yourself into the poverty role...your answers will be great, because they will be yours.

I gave up things, cable,my car, long distance service on my phone.A friend helped me with discounted bread and fruit.
I did go on welfare, only got a little bit of food stamps. You see,
I had to take disability retrement.Went from 42K/year to around
12K/year.Had to use all my savings to get by.Finally after six
years,I recieved Social Security.Things are a little easier,sold
my home for next to nothing,at least I`m out from under the
mortgage.
My doctor helped out with samples of some of my meds.I went to
the V.A.for further help with my meds, glasses, etc.I now take
over a dozen prescriptions.I have a part time job,as much to supplement my income and get out.
Sorry,guess I went a little too long.

Some people don't have a choice and just accept it. Some people "work the system" like welfare and use it to its max. I don't know your religious stance but Jesus, not quoting, stated that the poor will also be with us.

I think you should be the one thinking of these sentences, providing them to us and then we can suggest on some changes. If this is homework it is meant for you to write , out of your own words. Peace.
