why in the hell was a nurse making a dianosis????? she's an idiot... pap smears are never pleasant... make an appt at a women's clinic, not a regular doctors office, a women's clinic will be much more sympathetic. tell them in advance you had a bad experience that made your ill and are very nervous. they may give you a valium or something first to ease the stress.
please don't let a bad experience stop you from continuing to get checked every year... it's vitaly important to your health as a woman that you get regular checkups.

You mean a pap test? Oh man, i hate those, but i never got sick over it. Was it the first time you ever had anyone go down there? That might have been why you were so nervous...Sometimes you get nervous like that and feel like you will faint.
Just take deep breaths and relax... Think about being on a warm, sunny beach somewhere. Take a female friend or family member in with you to hold your hand. You will get used to it once you have had it done a few times.. But you may still bleed a little. I bleed sometimes too.
Like childbirth... it's just another "perk" of being a woman....

you can go to the doctor, i would suggest you find a different one, and explain your experiences to them and see if you feel comfortable enough to have another smear. if you don't, they can't keep you there, can they? so you can say, i am sorry, i don't feel comfortable going through with this.
i don't know how you feel about it but you might try planned parenthood. they are all over the place and they do women's health, you don't have to want birth control. and the ones around here are all women working there so you might feel more comfortable with a woman and if you don't like who you get, there are other people there and you can ask to be assigned to a different person. but you need to talk about it because you will have to become used to this sort of thing. after all, it is a place that you could never examine for yourself! you will have to find someone you can trust to help you stay healthy.

It is no fun getting one, relax, and it'll be over before you know it. :) They are a important test for women. Get one every year, and if your results come back fine, they may have you go every other year, unless you are on the pill. :)
Important note: Only doctors can make diagnoses.

Think of what they are doing. Its a medical exam to test for Cervical cancer and other things. We all have to do it. Cervical cancer would be so much worse than a minute of being uncomfortable.
